“ON FILM”
A VIRTUAL EXHIBITION
Film photography began as a fragile attempt to hold onto light, developed through early scientific curiosity in the 1800s. What started as experimentation slowly became a way of preserving time itself. Each advancement in film stock and camera design brought images closer to everyday life, making memory something physical.
For much of the 20th century, film became the way the world was seen and remembered. Its history is embedded in archives, newspapers, and personal albums, a collective visual memory built frame by frame, long before digital immediacy reshaped how images are made.
Today, film is still loved for its slower rhythm, material presence, and element of chance.
