“DARK FRAMES”
PHOTOGRAPHERS

Olivier Guitton
"I am a 22 years old French student and I have started photography in 2020 after having discovered a film camera and a few lenses that belonged to my grandfather. Since then, taking photos has become both an artistic way of expression and a link to my grandpa whom I’ve never met. When I’m using my camera there is a dialog between the feeling I want to convey, the aesthetic effect needed to do so and the setting of the parameters. Indeed, I am using a fully mechanical camera. At the beginning it was quite difficult but now this process and this duality between an artistic process and a more technical part is really fluent. I am mostly taking landscape pictures as well as detailed photos. I especially enjoy using the bokeh effect which is quite amazing with the old lenses I use. The majority of my pictures are taken during journeys. Photography has helped me to develop a more inquisitive eye when I discover new places, enabling me to appreciate them better."

Shawn Digity
Shawn Digity is a nature and exploration-style photographer with a passion for capturing the untamed beauty of some of the United States unheralded and untapped regions.
Shawn has journeyed through countless small towns and parks across Appalachia and the Midwest, emphasizing rural settings yet dabbling in urban areas as well. He has experimented with several photography niches though, including architecture, street photography, abstract, and still life. Through the hits and misses, Shawn tries to embody a laissez-aller, inquisitive, and devil-may-care brand of photography.
"My favorite style of photography is simply exploration, whether rural, urban, or anything in between. I frequent big cities, small towns, and numerous parks (among other locations). Much of the flora, fauna, and other curiosities I’ve discovered have been in seemingly random locations. Many photos include urbex and rurex findings from several areas in Appalachia and the Midwest. I hope to continue exploring new places and seeing what there is to discover."

Mete Altuniğne
Born in 1982, photographer Mete Altuniğne became interested in photography at the age of 9 with Kodak Ektralite. After 12 years of amateur photography, he started to study at Yıldız Technical University Faculty of Art and Design in 2004.
During his university years, he met digital cameras and gained experience by working in photography studios until he graduated in 2009. After graduation, he worked as a photographer in advertising agencies. He is currently teaching photography and continues to take photographs for his own projects.
"When taking photographs, I am often struck by the fluidity of time. The relationship of time with space and people. Sometimes it is the growth of a person, sometimes the aging of a stone. Finally, all of them are erased in time. Whenever I take a photograph, I feel one step away from this result and I feel that I have taken away what I have photographed."

Jess and Matthew currently reside in N/E Connecticut, with their beloved Old English Bulldog, Stella Nova.
"I love photography. I have always loved photography, especially the kind that is real, candid and in the moment. I am drawn to black and white photography for that reason, it always felt real. My photography is personal. It is places I have traveled to with people that I love. It is places that have stories and memories. It is moments in time you wish you could go back to. I want people to see these places from my perspective and hopefully inspire others to start capturing moments for themselves."

Fiona Demertzidis
"My work is emotive and instinctual, an outcome of the play of the subconscious impulses of the mind and free exploration of surrounding structures. My creations are an outcome of chance and are driven by imperfections. I don’t create the perfect photograph or painting, I create layers of beauty, character, depth and meaning."

Dhyo Singh
Dhyo Singh learned very early Argentic photography. Musician, he creates original sound atmospheres imprinted with synthetic textures and ethnic sounds. Self-taught, he has been interested in digital photography for a few years and then begins to create digital images from the photographs he made during his travels around the world.
Like his method of composing musical works, his work of image creation is based on a digital edition combining a photographic cliché and the integration of a number of external elements or treatments necessary to make totally new universes with frames resolutely surreal or opposite in an impressionist and naive style. The aim is naturally sublimation of a basic image to give it another dimension.
"I consider my work as a testimony of scenes of natural phenomena, or even scenes of human activity and its interaction with nature. It is very often a matter of showing what I see with my sensitivity, and of drawing the attention of others to a colour, shape or movement that their eye would not have seen. Rather than trying to compose an image, a theater, I seek the magic of the moment, that which is rarely repeated. When the photograph is sufficient in itself, it will integrate my realistic collection; sometimes I manipulate the photograph in post-production to sublimate it and give it a more unusual or plastic character."

Francis O’Shaughnessy
Francis O’Shaughnessy focuses his research on the construction of the audacity to live in his vision of the portrait in the landscape and the portrait of the landscape. He attempts to create dialogues between performance art and photography by orchestrating stagings that have their origins in the world of visual installations.
He creates scenographic spaces that evoke fictions enveloped by nature. His constantly (re)questioning body of work speaks about humans: their loves, their dreams, their nonsense and their quest for meaning. He introduces suggestions into his work that recall his identity mix without his conceptual and experimental representations being limited only to his cultural diversity. Lately, he has been looking at the inner landscapes and the passage of time that shape who we are. Thus, he attempts to interpret the infinite facets that make up the human soul by paying particular attention to the sphere of ritual, intimacy and adoptive identity.
Wet collodion is a primitive black and white photographic process that allows prints to be made on aluminum plates. The creation of an image is done through the use of a bellows device followed by various manipulations in the darkroom. For Francis O’Shaughnessy, this medium became a place of experimentation to architect dreamlike paintings to not capture what he thinks, but to understand what he thinks. By combining ancient processes with today’s technology, he revisits the knowledge of the past to push the limits of visual photography as well as its current concepts. Known for his singular approach, his exploratory studies focused on visual poetry reveal the concrete signature of his imagination.
For him, it is truly a poetic act to capture feelings of escape and elevation of the spirit and then transform, metamorphose or reinvent them into photographic compositions.

Rainer Würth
Rainer Würth (1967) writer, photographer (portraits, body & nude, landscape). In his photos inner and outer landscapes often blur into one another. He is interested in the open, in fragments and abstraction. For him as a photographer it is all about the moment, motif and composition. In the process of taking pictures Rainer Würth experiments with apertures and exposures, intentional camera movement (ICM), light and color. The camera is a tool for him to create visual poetry or to tell a story.
"The absence of color I often see as a gift. It offers me the space to focus on light and shadow, on composition. On the essence of an image, the story it tells, the visual poetry it creates."
